Dispatches: Maine to Boston

July 5, 2011

There are few places I enjoy visiting more than Maine.  I’ve been fortunate enough to make my way up to the Dirigo state at least once a year for sometime, and the trip has become somewhat of a ritual.  Maine is my escape from not just the city, but all aspects of life.    This year I ended up in Bar Harbor, home to Acadia National Park and just an hour or so southwest of the easternmost point within the continental U.S. and home of some of the best hand-made moccasin manufactures in the game, Quoddy.  With no cell service and endless nature it was easy to escape the day-to-day as well as take an accidental dip into the deep blue.  If you have yet to make your way up to these parts, I strongly recommend you do so.

Following a week in Maine, a stop in Boston on the way back to New York was in order.  The visit back to my old home was accompanied by Ms. Hollister Hovey, who was kind enough to jump on the Acela and make the trip up.  Once in Boston, we stretched our sea legs around the harbor, paid a visit to my old local(s), and explored the public library and Cambridge.
