That band looks like 2 layers of truck tarp, that’s good stuff.

Gorgeous watch. Ever since I bought a Soviet era watch from my dad’s friend who sold Russian antiques, I’ve had a thing for Soviet watches. These divers watches have great styling and are a lot more unique than similar looking timex watches.

I found a bargain gem this summer while shopping on ebay for a Soviet era watch. Its got 24 hour movement and was made to commemorate the Soviet antarctic expedition. Its a beautiful watch but I paid more fixing it. Its got a blue face with a map of antarctica and penguins, and everyone notices it. Its a great conversation starter, because everyone notices the 24 hour movement and are mystified by my ability to tell time, and then they’re drawn in by its subtle attractiveness. There are also soviet divers watches in 24 hour movement, but they’re slightly less detailed.

These divers watches seem to alleviate some of the problems with my watch, as the face is protruding and rounded so its out in the open for scratches and whatnot. Also the band has not held up too well. What a great find! I don’t know why these things fascinate me.
