Sea Bags

January 3, 2010

A good friend of mine, who knows, understands and appreciates my obsession with all things sea worthy, recently put me onto a company that makes bags out of old sails.  An idea I wish I’d come up with myself, these bags have everything I’d be looking for, recycled materials (the fact that it’s sails, makes it all the better), good design and nautical inspiration, and they’re made in America.

Based in Portland, Maine, Sea Bags, proudly makes all of their bags out of recycled sails with hand spliced rope for the handles.  From their site:  “Since 1999 we have been making custom tote bags out of recycled sails. Every bag we make has sailed around the world before it even leaves our shop, and we like that.”

The coolest thing about this company though is that they will work with you if you call them and let you know all the cool designs they have on the sails. The owner is an amazing lady!!!
