Ornamental Obsession

November 5, 2009

1933 Plymouth

There was once a time when a automobile’s appearance was not complete without an appropriate ornament gracing the hood.  One that complimented both its maker and its might.  An ornament gave the final touch, that last piece of pasazz.  Think of it as an impressive pocket square or better yet, an enviable watch.  The regular practice of having an ornament atop every  car’s hood has since fallen by the wayside, leaving only the luxury vehicles with the honor.  Now this sense of tradition is only a symbol of status rather than style.
