Highbury Square

September 24, 2009

If there are two things I’m into, one is the preservation of historic structures, and another, Arsenal F.C. As the Boston Red Sox of English football, Arsenal spent 93 years in their former Arsenal Stadium, a.k.a. Highbury, where following its replacement by the new Emirates Stadium, would be converted into a residential development with the pitch being turned into an English garden.  That was three years ago.

Today, while scrolling through Selectism, I was delighted to see that this project has been completed, and that much of Highbury’s historical integrity remained intact.  Named Highbury Square, much of the stadium was kept and turned into livable apartments with views of the pitch/garden.  Having loved this club for years, I’m excited to make my way back to North London and visit Highbury again.
