The 1940’s Remergence

The New York Times published a great article discussing the reemergence of the 40’s in some of the women’s upcoming lines.  “Snoods, peaked shoulders, peplums and pinched waists — the evocative components of 1940s style — are gaining fresh currency on the runways this season. In Paris, a handful of designers immersed themselves in the mannish look of that wartime era, adding frivolous touches to lighten the mood. Fox mufflers or saucily tilted cocktail hats helped offset the severity of their brusquely tailored suits. A slash of scarlet lipstick did the rest.” — Ruth La Ferla
