Trip Report: John’s Barber Shop
While in Portsmouth this past weekend I came across John’s Barber Shop. As the sign says, John’s opened in 1923, and has seen little change since opening its doors. With the exception of a few upgrades and improvements, much has been the same for the past 88 years. Inside, the walls are thick with memories of friends, customers and loved ones, as well as proud portraits of Bush Sr. and Ronald Reagan. At the Helm of the shears is John, who like most of the businesses in Portsmouth, is local. He’s full of great stories, gives a hell of cut and like his shop, hopes Portsmouth doesn’t change. If you find yourself in Portsmouth, swing by Daniel Street and pay John’s Barber Shop a visit.

Was always fascinated by the combs floating around in that blue water “Sanitizer” jar.
Great! That’s amazing… 88 years and yet still standing.
