Arctic Balloon Expedition of 1897
May 27, 2010
I read about the Arctic Balloon Expedition of 1897 and thought it too good not to share. One balloon, three men, North Pole, year 1897.
After only a couple of days afloat, S.A. Andree’s balloon ran aground and forced the three men aboard to survive on the ice. After being succumbed by the elements, these men remained lost for 33 years, and thanks to diligent journals their story could be told.
