Wings of Freedom Tour
From August 27th to September 1st, the Wings of Freedom Tour will be at the Westchester County Airport, and I’ve decided there are no excuses for me to not go check this out. A B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, and P-51 Mustang will be on the tarmac for all to view, tour and take a flight in if they feel so inclined. If you’re in the New York area, I strongly recommend checking these planes out, as well as talking shop with some of the rad veterans that are guaranteed to be in attendance. If you’re not in or around New York this weekend, check the Wings of Freedom Tour site for the other places they’re going to visit this year. I’ll report back with all my geek out moments, encounters, and some photos of these shredders of the sky.
This video of a B-17 fighting off a pack of fighter planes is dead serious, I got chills while watching. These guys are tough as hell – I have nothing but respect.
