Pan Am and TWA were the pioneers of the airline industry, with planes such as the Yankee Clipper or the first commercial jets, they’re responsible for the now vital business.  Constantly competing with each other,  innovation was inevitable, but unfortunately, post deregulation, Pan Am and TWA have fallen to the wayside.  Check out some more pictures that capture the romanticism once encompassed in traveling.

Its a shame the captain (and flight crew) do not speak as clearly as in the video- it leaves the impression that they do not care about their passengers. There’s something a little romantic about naming planes, its a shame no one does it any more…i guess it was a holdover from seafaring days. “Jet clipper” does sound a bit odd though.
